Welcome to Butte Valley, Dorris, California
BUTTE VALLEY, A valley of 80,000 acres found at the northern tip of California, nestled between the slopes of magnificent Mt.Shasta to the south and the great Klamath Basin on the north. It is a high desert plateau rimmed by mountain ridges and lakes, and is intersected by Highway 97 which runs north and south through the beautiful valley.
The center of the valley is 325 miles Southeast of Portland, Oregon; 350 miles north of San Francisco, and 20 miles south of Klamath Falls, Oregon.
WILDLIFE is abundant throughout the area. The recently designated US National Grasslands occupies a cenral space with auto tours allowed. Follow California Department of Fish and Game, south of Macdoel for information. Large PRONGHORN ANTELOPE HERDS can be seen, as well as abundant BALD AND GOLDEN EAGLE |
